ABOUT
The first thing you should know about me is that I love wine. Love, love, love wine. As they say, some people collect things, other people collect experiences. I’m the second type – and wine, though technically a thing, is really an experience. And, wine isn’t just about the taste, it’s about discovery. It’s about the great stories behind the wineries, the land, the name, or the wine-maker. Each time I grab any bottle of wine from my cellar, my head fills with memories – whether the first time I tasted the wine or if I’m lucky enough, when I went to the vineyard where the grapes were grown. When I bring a bottle of wine to a dinner party, it’s not just a bottle I enjoy drinking, it comes with a story or a history that I think the recipient will enjoy.

The goal of my blog is to take you on a journey through the discovery of wine. I want to help you find the next bottle to try on a random Tuesday night, or a fun new boutique wine for when it’s time to treat yo self.  Almost any wine blogger out there can tell you what they think of a wine – that’s great. And to be perfectly frank, I know a lot of you really don’t care. Although I’ll read what some random wine blogger writes about Chateau Petrus’s last vintage, what I really want is to try it for myself. So, if you want to figure out how to put a tasting together for yourself so YOU can taste the five first growths side by side, or five boxed wines side by side … then read on because this is the blog for you..

A quick word about the name. Why 10K Bottles? Malcolm Gladwell says it takes a ten thousand hours of effort and work on any subject to become an expert. As much as I love wine, I certainly have not yet drunk ten thousand bottles of wine – probably the amount one needs to be a true expert. Lucky me, I’m happy to do the homework and even more excited to do a little extra credit.  There’s a lot of wine out there to learn and try. This blog is about my journey to slowly attempt to become a wine expert and discovering some amazing wines along the way.

Do you want to help me on my journey?  Do you know of a winery I might enjoy discovering?  Have you tried or visited any of the wineries mentioned and have positive or negative feedback you’d like to share? If so, feel free to send me a message or leave spam free comments.  I look forward to hearing and learning from you!

Cheers!
